Moving Home with the Children? How to Make the Process Easier
Moving home at the best of times can be one of the most stressful experiences that a person can endure. Children, especially young children, often don’t understand just how challenging moving can be.
Those with children will appreciate the importance of considering their well-being throughout the moving process. Here are some of the actions that you can take to make sure the whole removal process is easier for your children.
Give Them Notice
It’s wise to tell your children as early as possible that you’re moving home. Just as you do, children, unless they’re very small, will need time to prepare. It’s unwise to spring the event on them without any prior notice. They may become unhappy at having to leave their home. If they’re given time to get used to the idea, they may become excited at the prospect of moving to a new home.
Consider Their Expectations
When moving home it’s paramount that you understand their personal needs, and what they want. Those with a family will need to consider how to cater to the needs of each member of the family. Reassure your children that they have an importance place in your new home. Invigorate your children with the prospect of a new place to live, complete with new bedroom and playroom.
Get Them Excited
As mentioned previously, children will need time to adjust to a new home. The excitement of a new home can make all the difference to children throughout the moving process. It can be rather difficult throughout the packing, moving and unpacking process for children if they don’t want to move.
If there’s a nearby park for children to play in, direct them to the area. If the neighbourhood is known to be family-friendly, let them know. The prospect of having children to play with may get them more excited for the move.
Give Them Responsibility
One of the most effective ways to get your children engaged in the move is to give them some responsibility. Allowing them to pack their room (providing they are old enough to tackle it) is one of the best ways to engaged in the room.
Stay Relaxed
Children can sense the strain that you’re feeling. This is no more apparent than throughout the removal process. If you remain relaxed and calm the odds are that your children will also remain relaxed and calm.
These are just five top tips for making the removal process easier with children. If you’re about to move home bear these tips in mind and you’ll make the transition much less stressful.

‘This is just to thank you and your team for the fantastic service during my move from Crouch End to Bexley. Everything was packed beautifully and the crew who moved me were fantastic, remaining friendly and good-humoured throughout. The piano was successfully moved from the first floor and everything arrived intact. It was really worth having the packing service as well, and my stress levels were kept well under control, so well done!’

‘Excellent company – gave me a really good price and fantastic service. We had the full packing service on the Monday, then they finished packing, and moved us on the Tuesday – on time and on schedule. Kav even had five guys on the job, on the Tuesday morning, which kept us on schedule. No breakages, everything was well packed: highly recommended.
We’ll be moving again in the next year, this time with a piano – we hope to use Pers Removals again!’24th June 2013

‘Three charming chaps arrived to move my piano from Maidenhead to West London. They took time to plan the moving process and communicated well with each other. They had several steps to cope with inside the house, and a few outside. I was expecting the piano to be bumped about – but not at all. Such care was taken – the piano could have been a newborn baby and would have come to no harm! Now that I have found Pers I will definitely use them again.’
