How to make the most of your next house viewing
Are you on the hunt for your next home?
Viewing properties is an exciting time. It’s the perfect opportunity to narrow down the list of things you want and need in a house and gives you an idea of how easy that kind of property will be to find.
There are though, a lot of people who rush through the house and cram as many viewings into one day as they can. This is never a good idea. It means that they won’t spot some of the less obvious faults and could mean that they move into a property that has more issues than benefits.
To help, we’ve put together a rundown of how you can make the most of your next house viewing.
Never go alone
If you’re moving into an apartment or house on your own you might think it’s okay to view the property alone. We advise against this. Always take someone with you – a friend, family member, a colleague. They’ll be able to help you spot the less obvious issues. Plus, they can wander off on their own to look through the house without the agent diverting their eyes away from a problem.
Look out for damp
One thing that many people don’t spot in a house viewing is damp. That’s usually because it’s easy to disguise. Be sure to look out for signs of it like peeling wallpaper, dark residue on the walls, or a musky smell.
You don’t want to move into the property only to uncover a huge damp problem.
Take your time
Be careful not to cram too many viewings into one day. You should give yourself plenty of time to inspect the property. It could be the home where you start a family or spend the next 20 years of your life.
It needs to be perfect.
How much space do you need?
If you’re viewing a property that’s empty of furniture remember this – it looks huge now but it might not when all your belongings are in there.
Try and envisage where all of your things might go. This will help you determine whether the property is big enough.
Take plenty of pictures
Take plenty of pictures on your smartphone of each property you visit. Get one picture of every room at the least. Then, when it comes to deciding on the property you liked the most, you won’t have to rely just on memory. You’ll have pictures on hand to help.
When you have decided on the property right for you, you’re going to need a little help moving all your belongings. That’s where we come in. At Pers Removals we have over a decade’s experience in the removals industry and can help take all the stress away from moving day.

What Our Clients Say

‘This is just to thank you and your team for the fantastic service during my move from Crouch End to Bexley. Everything was packed beautifully and the crew who moved me were fantastic, remaining friendly and good-humoured throughout. The piano was successfully moved from the first floor and everything arrived intact. It was really worth having the packing service as well, and my stress levels were kept well under control, so well done!’

‘Excellent company – gave me a really good price and fantastic service. We had the full packing service on the Monday, then they finished packing, and moved us on the Tuesday – on time and on schedule. Kav even had five guys on the job, on the Tuesday morning, which kept us on schedule. No breakages, everything was well packed: highly recommended.
We’ll be moving again in the next year, this time with a piano – we hope to use Pers Removals again!’24th June 2013

‘Three charming chaps arrived to move my piano from Maidenhead to West London. They took time to plan the moving process and communicated well with each other. They had several steps to cope with inside the house, and a few outside. I was expecting the piano to be bumped about – but not at all. Such care was taken – the piano could have been a newborn baby and would have come to no harm! Now that I have found Pers I will definitely use them again.’
