How to Get Kids Involved in a Move
Moving solo can be stressful enough, but moving with kids can add an entirely new level of difficulty and stress. However, with the help of a professional moving company such as Pers Removals, you can rest assured that we will take care of the difficult aspects of moving, allowing you to focus on the important aspects of the big move.
Prepare Your Kids for the Move
Moving home can be tough on a child – especially if they’re moving from a home that they’ve grown up in. It might be a good idea to gather the family together or even arrange a ‘family meeting’ before the big move. This would be beneficial to discuss what is happening, what’s expected and what your children could do to help. This will let the move sink and allow them to ask any questions they may have regarding a new home, area or school.
Let the Children Get Involved
Getting kids involved in the moving process can keep them busy and also provide you with much-needed help. By creating fun and creative tasks for the kids to do, you can get on with the important things while they work at away at the smaller jobs, hopefully having fun in the process. Some tips to help keep them engaged in their tasks include:
- Creating fun and colourful checklists for them to follow and interact with easily
- Offering them ‘prizes’ or incentives to motivate them to finish a specific task
- Encouraging them to conduct a clearout of their belongings
- Letting them decorate moving boxes using bright colours and stickers.
Provide Supplies for the Journey
When it comes to the day of the big move, you’ll want to ensure that your kids are occupied, content and happy. Regardless of whether the journey is long or short, make sure to take toys, games and other fun, interactive activities for them to partake in. Don’t forget those all-important snacks for when the little ones get hungry! Oh, and remember to take along some nibbles for yourself.
Ensure things are in Place for your Arrival
Before the big move, ensure that you’ve checked out the new schools, a doctor surgery and any after school activities they may want to take part in. By now you should of course already have your children enrolled in their new school (if necessary) – unless it’s during the summer holidays, then you can arrange it in due course.

What Our Clients Say
-
‘This is just to thank you and your team for the fantastic service during my move from Crouch End to Bexley. Everything was packed beautifully and the crew who moved me were fantastic, remaining friendly and good-humoured throughout. The piano was successfully moved from the first floor and everything arrived intact. It was really worth having the packing service as well, and my stress levels were kept well under control, so well done!’

‘Excellent company – gave me a really good price and fantastic service. We had the full packing service on the Monday, then they finished packing, and moved us on the Tuesday – on time and on schedule. Kav even had five guys on the job, on the Tuesday morning, which kept us on schedule. No breakages, everything was well packed: highly recommended.
We’ll be moving again in the next year, this time with a piano – we hope to use Pers Removals again!’24th June 2013

‘Three charming chaps arrived to move my piano from Maidenhead to West London. They took time to plan the moving process and communicated well with each other. They had several steps to cope with inside the house, and a few outside. I was expecting the piano to be bumped about – but not at all. Such care was taken – the piano could have been a newborn baby and would have come to no harm! Now that I have found Pers I will definitely use them again.’
